A serendipitous second meeting for Elma & Robert

‘What’s meant to be will find its way’ - a saying that rings true for Ella Marie Corcoran, or more fondly known as Elma and her love Robert Hennessey.
“We first met on the main pedestrian crossing in Newcastle West on a night out when we were both crossing the street in opposite directions and got introduced to each other.  Unfortunately, we didn’t see each other again that night, but I came back for another visit to Newcastle West and happened to bump into Robert again. The most serendipitous encounter of my life,” Elma recalls.

After falling head over heels for each other, the couple began a long-distance relationship as Robert worked in Canada. Elma later joined him, and an engagement was on the cards. “Robert brought me on a trip to Montreal, which is such a beautiful city. He proposed to me whilst having dinner in the Ritz Carlton. He dropped to one knee and presented me with a platinum diamond ring he had bought in
Keanes jewellers in Killarney Co Kerry, while we were home for my sister’s wedding in May. I came back to Ireland In September 2016 to recommence my job that I had taken leave of absence from, and plan our wedding,” the bride said.

A wedding date was set for June 30, 2017 with a ceremony at St Mary’s Cathedral Killarney followed by a reception at The Brehon Hotel, Killarney.
The stunning bride was joined at the altar by Rosetta Corcoran Cotter (who was nine months pregnant and had her baby a few days after the wedding!) Sarah Corcoran, Fionnuala Horgan Corcoran and Olivia Hennessy and flower girl Roisin Corcoran. The groom’s gang included Philip Lambert, Michael Cussen, Peter Curtin and Conor Casey.

HOW WAS YOUR EXPERIENCE AT THE BREHON, KILLARNEY?

We spent some time selecting our wedding venue and we could not have been happier with our choice of the Brehon hotel in Killarney. The wedding Co-Ordinator Kelly Ann is so professional and helpful. She was there at every stage of the planning, and was there at hand throughout the day of the wedding. The Brehon staff are just so polite and accommodating, and the food was incredible. We couldn’t recommend the hotel highly enough. We had the most incredible group of professionals working on hair and makeup on the day.
