June 17,2017- Foley's Bar, Inch
Elly McGregor Hodgkiss from Casltemaine met Arizona native David Morgan while she played in a trad session with the Inch Trad Group. The pair hit it off instantly but due to the travelling nature of David's job and that he was based in Paris, their second date was a holiday in Italy, where they travelled around the country whilst falling in love. The couple later travelled to many other places including a U.S. road trip, where David decided he would pop the question. Elly remembers the day vividly.
"On return to Paris, we had a week to pack up the apartment and move to Dublin. Amidst the chaos of boxes, David asked me where the zip ties were. I turned around and he was on one knee, proposing with them in hand. I must admit that I was in stitches laughing at this and asked if I could have the green zip tie as my make shift ring (my favourite colour). We smooched and skyped our folks to share the news," the bride shares.
The couple decided to start a family straight away and the bride to be soon had a growing bump throughout the wedding planning. Unfortunately, with weeks to the wedding, David was in a serious motorbike accident and the wedding was put on hold until the groom recovered from his injuries and two broken arms. Thankfully, the grooms condition improved and on June 17, 2017 the couple counted themselves luckier than ever to celebrate their wedding day.
The blushing bride was joined by her beautiful bridesmaids Colleen O’Brien, Katie Foley, Giulia Visciani and Laoise Friel. The gorgeous Julie O’Brien was ringbearer and Zoe Berril was flower girl.
The groomsmen came from all over the world to be by David's side on his wedding day and included Julien Massenet, Ovidu Illevici, Morgan Ferry, Bobby Morgan and Alex Hodgkiss.
The wedding ceremony was held in a marquee in a field across from Foley's bar, Inch where a sand ceremony took place to celebrate the union of the bride and groom's families. This element of the couples' day was made even more special due to David's accident prior to the wedding.
The field was the perfect outdoor venue with straw bales for guest to sit on and a beautiful arch over the couple. "The children built straw bale forts and played ferociously. Frisbee went on all night. Although, David and I couldn’t join in, what with his two broken arms and my growing bump!" the bride recalls. The beautiful flowers arrangements and bouquets were a team effort and created using fresh flowers from the gardens of friends and families and flower markets. The guests were entertained into the night with amazing trad music from the bride and her fellow talented musicians.
HOW WAS YOUR EXPERIENCE WITH BREDA DALY PHOTOGRAPHY?
"I’ve known Breda since school and never met anyone who can manage people so well. In addition to how comfortable she made us all feel, we had fun too. She is very efficient and took lots of amazing shots. The angles were very interesting and suited us perfectly. It’s quite tricky taking picture in such strong sunlight and she did amazing job of it. We’ve received so many compliments on our wedding photos, thanks Breda!"
