March 10, 2017 - St. Brendan’s Church & Ballygarry House Hotel

Shivaun O’Shea met the lucky Raymond Fitzmaurice on a night out in their local town, Tralee and the rest is history for the happy couple who now have a gorgeous son named Fionn.

Raymond’s romantic proposal took Shivaun completely by surprise on the day of her 30th birthday, no less. She was just home from a luxurious spa day with her sister Melanie when he popped the question with an exquisite diamond ring from Hilsers Jewellers and of course she said yes! They had a meal booked with family for that evening and that is where they started to spread the news, the first people to be told were Shivaun’s mom and sister Melanie.

Shortly after that the date was set for March 10, 2017 and the bride and groom were surrounded by 210 of their closest friends and family at a ceremony celebrated by Fr. Padraig Walsh in St. Brendan’s Church followed by a lavish reception at Ballygarry House Hotel, Tralee.

THE HEN PARTY
The bride was whisked away for a weekend in Galway, one night was spent glamping and the second in the fabulous Meyrick Hotel where the girls were pampered, “I loved every minute of it and am so grateful to the girls for a great send off,” Shivaun said delightedly.

THE WEDDING PARTY
The bridal party included Emma Fitzgerald as Shivaun’s maid of honour as well as Melanie Cruise and Emer O’Flaherty who were bridesmaids. Raymond’s best man was Barry Fitzmaurice and Pahjoe Clifford and Mike O’Sullivan were groomsmen. The adorable Fionn Fitzmaurice was pageboy and Aoibheann Nagle made guests swoon as flowergirl.

THE WEDDING TEAM
Shivaun wowed in a Mori Lee bridal gown from Virginia’s Bridal, Limerick which was completely different to what she had in her mind, “Virginia picked it for me and it was the very first dress I tried on all the rest afterwards didn’t  compare and I just felt a million dollars in it.” Shivaun borrowed her sister’s Jimmy Choo wedding shoes to accessorise. Cathy Troth designed a fabulous headpiece for the bride’s mother.

The wedding cake was made by Trudy Hickey, a family friend in Dublin and Shivaun’s aunt Ruth Kelter put together all of the floral arrangements including bouquets, church décor and so much more on the day. All You Need is Love designed and created the bespoke invites for Shivaun and Raymond’s big day. The extremely talented Vicky O’Sullivan beautified the ladies on the wedding morning and Geraldine Flynn was phenomenal when it came to their hair-dos.

Church music was performed by the wonderful Pamela Teahan, Daniel Teahan and Fiona Kavanagh. Truly Diverse band played after the meal and into the night getting the crowd on their feet and DJ Big Jim took over from them keeping the tunes flowing all night long. The Singing Chef, John Frawley, also entertained guests for a while during the meal.

Horan’s Wedding Car Hire provided transport for the big day. Tara Donoghue Photography caught the couple’s special memories on camera brilliantly, while Cosmo Video Productions were in the background capturing the day  on film for the bride and groom.

SPECIAL MOMENTS
Shivaun and Raymond shared their first dance as a married couple to James Arthur’s ‘Say You Won’t Let Go’.

Shivaun’s favourite memory of her wedding was meeting her husband-to-be at the top of the aisle, “meeting Raymond at the top of the aisle and also meeting all of our family at the hotel when we arrived,” she recalls.

ADVICE
Shivaun has some wonderful advice for brides-to-be, “you can never be too organised, but don’t let the wedding take over completely, and enjoy the ride.”

THE HONEYMOON
The newlyweds spent ten nights together in Mauritius after the wedding day, “a great end to all the planning and celebrating” the bride said.

How was it to work with Tara Donoghue Photography?
“I would like to thank our photographer Tara Tonoghue and her husband Dave who were amazing to work with! We met them both for the first time at the Kerry bridal show in the INEC where we won the overall prize! An amazing prize I might add which included Tara and Dave’s services on the day of our wedding free of charge, as I’m sure any couple getting married would agree it’s expensive business and as you can imagine we were over the moon to be the lucky winners! it relieved so much stress and made planning our big day a lot easier! Tara and Dave are amazing people so easy going and a pleasure to work with, we would highly recommend them to anyone!”
