It was a night on the tiles that brought Cahersiveen natives Ita O’Sullivan and Kerry footballer Bryan Sheehan together over six years ago. The pair, who had grown up in the same town but had ever met, hit it off straight away.
After five splendid years Ita and Bryan had found true love. In between Bryan’s dedication to the Kerry football team and his games near and far the pair had extremely busy lives but it didn’t stop this groom-to-be sneaking in a proposal along the way.
Ita lets us in on the proposal. “We headed off to Reen Roe with Mosley, our beloved dog in tow. However as we got closer to the beach the wind was picking up, it had begun to rain and the tide was in. Bryan suggested we wait and see if it calmed, but there was no way I was getting out of the car!"
In a bid to keep the romantic beach side proposal afoot, Bryan suggested getting some fresh air at White Strand, where he built up the courage to pop the question and a delighted Ita instantly accepted.
A date was set for April 29, 2016 with the ceremony in Daniel O'Connell Memorial Church, Cahersiveen followed by a stunning reception at Jacks Coastguard Restaurant, Cromane.
THE WEDDING PARTY
Ita’s sisters’ Caitriona O’Sullivan, Joanne O’Sullivan and Fiona O’Sullivan led the way for the bride while the role of the groomsmen was carried out by Liam Sheehan, Bryan’s brother, Declan O'Sullivan and Brian O'Sullivan. The bride’s nephew Seimi O'Sullivan made the guests swoon in his pageboy attire.
THE WEDDING TEAM
From the early hours of April 29th, photographer Michael O’Sullivan was there to capture all of the important moments. Each of the 230 guests received a carefully designed invitation from Elizabeth Conlon of Conlon Designs. The stunning ladies in the bridal party were beautified by Michelle Hoare from Magic Touch Beauty Salon, Killorglin and their hair was taken care of by Cathriona’s Hair Salon. Ita’s mother Sheila wore a blue one-piece dress designed by Clodagh Irwin Owens and Bryan’s mother wore a dress designed by the fabulously talented Tina Griffin Designs. The dancefloor was kept alive for the night by wedding band Truly Diverse and later into the evening one of Kerry’s most popular Dj’s, Big Jim, kept the tunes going.
Ita and Bryan’s day was adorned with personal touches right down to the tiniest detail. They had their very own personal backdrop for taking photos made with names of the wedding party and the family crests. They had a popcorn and sweet cart which went down a treat. After dinner they held a fire show performance outside and gave everyone sparklers. The groom put extra effort into creating the mass booklets for the ceremony by choosing each reading, prayer and the design layout.
Tell us about your wedding venue?
Our wedding was held at Jack's Coastguard Restaurant in Cromane. Jack's is an award winning seafood restaurant located on the seafront with stunning views of Rossbeigh beach and Inch beach. Our champagne reception was held in the main bar and restaurant and then we moved out to an especially erected marquee in the garden for dinner and dancing. It was an amazing venue from start to finish, the views, the scenery, the service and most importantly the food was spectacular.
What made you choose Jack's Coastguard Restaurant?
We loved the location of Jacks and liked the idea of having our wedding in South Kerry. We had looked at a number of venues but once we met Brian and Pauline and saw their easy going nature and how willing and eager they were to help make our wedding unique to us we knew this was the place. The food and scenery was definitely another added bonus. Pauline's attention to detail made our lives a lot easier. We couldn’t praise them enough.
Why would you recommend Jack’s for a wedding venue?
“Firstly Brian and Pauline are fantastic to work with. The service and staff were so good and polite. They were so understanding and took a load of pressure off us. If anything, they did more than what was required and asked of them. The food was out of this world. The view is absolutely fabulous from the restaurant and marquee.”
