Winter Warmers

Winter Warmers

By Michaela Keating
Baby, it’s cold outside, but it doesn’t have to be a frosty atmosphere inside your wedding reception.
We’ve toasted up some tips on how to create a warmth and glow within your wedding party and make sure that your wedding is the event of the holiday season.

A little jazzy
There’s just something about a little soothing jazz music to create a cosy atmosphere at your wedding reception. Think slow bluesy tunes with a sprinkle of jazzed-up Christmas classics to set the vibe for the evening ahead. A warm welcome is always a plus for the guests and the chilled out setting allows for people to mingle and enjoy themselves before sitting down to the meal.

Packing a punch
Nothing says winter wedding like a steaming glass of delicious mulled wine but if you want to switch things up a little, opt for a winter punch that can be just as tasty and create one with your own personal flavours. Work with your venue to create a signature warm drink based off the alcohol (or non-alcoholic drink) of your choice and add some winter berries to create your own beverage. Keep the kids sweet by having some hot chocolate on hand too.

Soup shots
The canapes at your reception are like little pieces of heaven to a crowd of guests who have braved the chilly weather to celebrate your special day with you. Make sure they have something warm and tasty to tide them over till the meal time, rather than cooler food options. Soup is the cosy food of the season, so think a tasty butternut squash option for the veggies among your guests and oxtail soup for the rest. Choosing more unique flavours will score extra brownie points from our guests.

Sparks fly
Sparklers are stunning for action shots for winter weddings so invest in a bundle for your guests to use to create some fun images for your photo album. Research some outside- the- box shots and work with photographer to capture the magical moment. These are also safe for older kids, so everyone can join in the fun!

Chandeliers and candelabras
Nothing makes a room look that extra bit glamourous than some amazing lighting. We adore large centre pieces for winter weddings and adorning your tables with candelabras can add that extra element of glamour and warm up the room in all the right ways. Be selective with your candles and opt for a burgundy or gold sparkled candle to tie in with your theme. Always a bonus if your venue has amazing crystal chandeliers.
