There’s a reason summer is the most popular time of year to
get married and we think we know why! We have put together a bunch of reasons
that you should consider when picking your wedding date if you’re thinking of a
Long days and short nights
The short nights bit might sound
like a negative point but hear me out, you’ll be more inclined to get up early on
a bright summers day than on a wintry morning which means you have more time to
savour when you’re getting ready and just relaxing before the ceremony. You’ll
also be able to savour your big day that much longer and the party can start
whenever you want it to, you don’t have to wait for it to get dark out. The
stretch in the evening will be beneficial to you as you can get some lovely
pictures in the evening when the sunlight might be less harsh than it would
have in the afternoon.
Flowers are in abundance
This adds in with the bright colour
scheme but you can get stunning flowers that aren’t available year-round during
the summer. Using flowers that grow in the season of your wedding will
dramatically reduce costs because there will be less need for them to be
shipped from other countries or grown in greenhouses specifically for you.
Using local floral suppliers is also a great way of contributing to your
community and helping small businesses which is a great thing to do in
preparation for your big day.
Although you are never guaranteed a bright or
clear day for your wedding, the weather is sure to be a lot more cooperative
with your plans in summer than in any other season. You probably won’t have to
worry about needing to cover up or keep warm, a nice shawl could come in handy
but that’s about all you’ll need. A nice idea could be to have a small part of
your day outside, find out if your venue has a garden area that you could use
for your drinks reception and have a cute little garden party before your meal.
This could also be an ideal time to get group photos with your friends to get
it out of the way.
Bright colours look fab
You can experiment with bright
colours and different colour combinations when it comes to a summer wedding
because they won’t look out of place. In winter couples tend to go for a more
paired back colour scheme to match the season and in spring pastels reign
supreme, but in summer there are no expectations and bright colours are so in.
They look gorgeous in floral arrangements and on wedding stationery and the
centrepiece of each table in bright colours will make the room pop.
